Ever since gold was discovered in the region, transport has played a huge role in the history of the City. The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Airport is the busiest regional airport in the state. It offers first class facilities and a daily service to and from Perth. Qantas and Skywest both operate daily return services to Perth with a flying time of just over one hour. Goldfields Air Services provides a charter service to any destination in Australia. Qantas provides a regular direct return flight from Kalgoorlie-Boulder to Adelaide, and SkyWest operates direct flights between Kalgoorlie-Boulder and Melbourne. The start-of-the-art, high speed Prospector travels from Kalgoorlie to Perth in under 6 hours and operates daily. The Indian Pacific is a trans-continental service that operates bi-weekly from Kalgoorlie to Perth and return, as well as crossing the Nullabor, providing a transcontinental rail link for passengers. Kalgoorlie Boulder is well serviced by public transport - there is a complete local taxi network - Twin City taxis - that operate on a 24 hour a day basis. TransGoldfields operate a regular bus service throughout the city, including school buses.
