It’s going to be hot. Here are the average temperatures. Bearing in mind how big the state is and the difference between the North and the South, just assume that:
      a. It’s going to be hot
      b. It’s going to be really hot in the summer
      c. It’ll be ‘fresh’ in the winter in the south, but in the north, it’ll be hot.
      d. When it rains in January – it rains in one solid lump, then it’s hot again.

Ahhh...you've done some more scientific research :)

I'm sure when I chose Kalgoorlie I thought 'I'm OK with hot and sun'...let's hope that is still the case :)

      I shall.

I feel we need to have internet as soon as possible after arrival, so I can Skype and let people know we're OK etc, etc

I'm guessing it may not be as simple as that, but if we go having already donw the research it should save us some time :)

Sorry it's been a while since I looked on here! Phone/internet takes bloomin' ages to get set up, probably a month for us (with iinet) and I know for a fact that Telstra is no quicker. Iinet have been fine so far, our average cost per month is $100 including broadband and home phone, and that includes any home calls we make including a couple of overseas calls. For satellite tv we have recently caved in and bought it, mainly for the olympics and motor racing. If we weren't interested in the sports package or recording programs then I wouldn't bother, as normal digital tv now has way over 30 channels, same old tripe you get on satellite! We pay $80 odd a month for Foxtel satellite tv, but we did sign up during June which meant we have no tie in contract and can cancel it any time.

For mobiles when you get here only Telstra has decent coverage. Any other network is rubbish so don't bother!
