Hi
Yes it is great. All I needed to do was buy a plug in mic as the one on my laptop is not very good.

Cheers
The oldgit

Hi Chrissy,

I use Skype all the time to speak to family in South Africa and Australia, You will be really surprised how clear it is ( that is as long as you have a broad band connection , it is just not worth it if it is dial up) some days I will speak to my sister in South Africa for 3 or 4 hours while working on the PC

You Can down load it from Skype official website – download Skype free now for free calls and internet calls and it costs you nothing as long as you only contact other Skype users and not land line phones ( You have to set up an account for land line phone)

I would advise you to buy a good quality headset ( eg a Plantronics Skype headset) instead of using a mic and speakers. Although they will work you tend to get an echo on the other side

PM me if you require any more help !

Cheers

Craig

We use it to speak to our rellies in Aus and will be doing the reverse when we move over. I've also had interviews over the skype already in advance of us going in Nov this year.

You do need a decent quality headset we have a cheap one and it we get a lot of echo. But overall its great. Also if you are looking at having it long term if / when you move out to aus a skype phone is worth consdering, this works so that you just have a normal phone and can call peopel direct on skype, or for a subscription to their landlines. They are really handy and just sit like a normal phone but connect through your broadband and you don't need to have your computer switched on. My rellies in Aus have one and say its fab, we'll certainly be buying them for our rellies here so that we can call them on it.
