Well I woke this morning to check my emails and came across the TRA results and it said that my husband failed. The agent said that we can re apply September 2008 as they are changing there criteria.
I have been really wanting this and wanted to move for next year, now everything is on hold until I qualify. I feel like my world has been crushed!!
Did anybody else fail their TRA first time round? Can you pass the second time?

oh no! give it another shot... the criteria is changing, il PM you a bit of info i got from my agent (incase you havent already read)
we are getting all our info together at the mo for TRA assessment for 175 - OH is a panel beater. hardest thing is trying to proove your apprenticeship when TRA dont recognise NVQ certs as apprenticeship.
we had to obtain a national craft certificate which was b4 NVQ i believe. our agent told us TRA do accept these.
Im scared of failing even tho our agent has ok'd all the refs and the stat dec we done so far.
Did your agent tell you why you failed? do you get to know this info? what trade are you getting assessed?
DO NOT give up! your agent should help you get in another way if 175 is a def no no. you'l get there.

thats a good point! my agent went through my tra application with a fine toothcomb. checked wording, evidence etc. has your agent given an explanation of what went wrong?

OH NO!!!!!you poor things, yes yes do it again,"if at first you don't succeed try try again"i have heard of people doing it twice, passing the second time.good luck.Shellj
One or two of the negative TRA assessments in the last week or two are - quite frankly - nonsense.
I'll not bore readers with the specifics, beyond saying that inconsistent assessors can make the process something akin to a lottery.
Discuss with your advisor if you are the unlucky recipient of an unsuccessful application.
Best regards.

Hi Lee
My husband is a mechanical fitter, we are applying for a 175 visa so we needed the results. We are going to email our agent tonight and see what he says is the best route to take. We will try again Sept when we can

Hi Sazzle
We are trying to go on a 175 visa, my husband is a mechanical fitter, we had to try and prove my husbands 2 year apprenticeship, he also has a NVQ, as he has worked in the role for more than 5 years we thought we would be OK, we also had our stat dec and references checked by our agent and by the sounds of it he seems just as surprised as we are. He has a meeting with someone from the TRA next week and said that we can appeal. We just have to wait and see..I will definitely re apply in Sept, I wont give up even though its driving me
