I am sure that civilan staff exist in Australia in the Police Force. Are you actually getting your visa on some other trade or way though?

Good Luck

Yes, I've seen job ads for both emergency dispatchers and also (in WA) for people to train to answer non-emergency police calls, which is supposed to free up the emergency lines. I guess it depends on what the needs are at the time, but you shouldn't have any trouble getting a call centre/customer service job if you can't find what you want immediately.

Thumbs up

Positions and job descriptions vary from State to State, so don't restrict your skills to just police, there are also the various Fire Brigades and Ambulance Services who employ Civ Operators.

The problem with any government positions for any new migrants is the requirement to be either an Australian citizen or eligible to be one. That could be an initial stumbling block if there are dispatcher jobs going. I was in the AFP communications centre the other day and cant for the life of me remember whether the sergeant in charge said they were sworn police officers or not! They were in civvies if that helps!

Yes, I worked in the control room for the Sussex Police and am starting the same job here in Perth on the 11th August. What part of Oz are you coming too??
