Hi Mike,

I recently returned from the Uk with Singapore airlines, you can have a seat were they have cots for your baby to sleep in, you have to get them out for landing though! They are brilliant with children too, they call you first to board the aircraft.

Don't know which part of the UK you live and where you are flying out of, but if you are in the North they leave Manchester Daily and also Heathrow, touch down at Singapore then on to Australia, the stopover at Changi can be anything from a couple of hours to 5-6 depending on where you are flying into Australia. Stopovers are very reasonable too if you wanted to spend a couple of days in Singapore.

Hope this helps

Thank you Jayne. We are in Glasgow, but getting to Heathrow is no probs (just moved back from London) we are planning on starting Melbourne, then motor home for one month traveling north gradually, then leave from Brisbane. We just think equal legs of flight would be better than 9hrs then 14hrs.

Hi

wehn you are booking your flight ask for the bassenet seat...these are the ones jaynie was talking about... they are for families with younger children and all planes have them...but they do get booked up quickly as there are only a few...

they basically give you more leg room and have a fold down shelf for a cot or baby seat (depending on age of child) which the airline provide.

min x

Not too sure which airline would do the shorter legs to be honest with you, it is a horrendous journey I will say that and also with a young child, but the way I looked at it was it was only 1 day in my life.......A VERY LONG DAY !!!

Have you looked at going via America? Air New Zealand fly into Australia from the States, maybe that is another option for you to consider.

we flew with Gulf air not a very friendly bunch but we booked a skye cot which was great, our lil boy was 11 months he was fine he sat in skycot through out the day with books and toys to amuse him then he slept for night. If you ask your pharmacist about phenegren its an antihistamine i know a few people who give this to kids when travelling cheers lynneeeeeeeeeee

Hi mike we took my 9month to oz in march and took are own carseat , we flew with Ba they were great !! the first part of the journeyy we flew to bangkok , they were so helpful weonly stayed there for an hr then flew straight to sydney , where the staff at the airport were so good . tip for you buy a light weight buggy which has a Umbrella folding mechanism(think i paid about £20 for mine). then i wheeled baby straight on to plane and the stewards placed it in the aeroplane easy for ascess for the first half of the jouney the ;)only thing we had to carry the carseat too when we got to bangkok then put it back on lol . the only reason we took a carseat was that we were told that it can happen that you can't get a basinet!!!
Our lil man slept the whole journey woke up for food then went off again lol the babies on the flight were so good !! quieter then some adults to be honest . if you would like some info , i don't mind, i have been doing this trip back n forth for a while with my kids and to be honest i find it less stressful then the short haul flights !!
