Hi Sarabjit
There are a lot of Brits in Berwick and you will easily make friends and so will the children. I have an 11 year son so I am sure the boys will get along fine. There are some good schools in Berwick especially Haileybury College.
Where abouts would your OH be working? You are more than welcome to pm me anytime, don't ever feel alone like I said there are lots of us on this group who have gone through what you are feeling and through PIO we have become one large family there to support each other.

I know how you feel

Hi,

We are due to move to Sydney at the end of July (28 days in counting) and although it is what I have always wanted to do and I feel very excited, I do have lots of thoughts on whether I am doing the right thing, especially in terms of taking the children away from their grandparents and family.

I am lucky in a way though as the children are 2 and 9 months, so they are not settled and should adapt very easily - well they wont really know any different!!

Quick questions to others in the group. I will be doing some more reseach before we go, but I never seem to have any time!! so pointers and advice will be very much appreciated.

Cost of living?? how much does a family of four need to live on a month? I have read some general comparison sites, but still do not feel free on how much we need to budgeting for.

Nurseries?? any recommendations around Dee Why/ Collaroy area or anyone else in Sydney with young children and advice on cafe play areas, good family restaurants ??

Renting?? Is it quite easy to find suitable family accomadation in the Northern shores area. There seems to be a lot of suitable properties on the websites, but is it easy and quick to get them?

Thanks for any responses

Marie x

Hi Marie, I am sorry I can't help with Sydney but just wanted to wish you well and I hope you settle in to your new life. I bet there is not one person on PIO who didn't have doubts, it is normal what you are feeling right now

I am totally petrified.!!
If i didn't know better then i'd have said i wrote your post. We are also going out in September with 2 children to the Berwick area. Never been and no jobs secured and scared stiff. But as you say once we had made the initial enquiry we don't feel as though we could live with the regret however we could if we really wanted to return to the uk and start again.

Would be great also to meet up once we arrive. PM and swap details.

I adore you people here already! And I do not even know you that well yet.
Such kindness etc.

Dear Sara... I can almost taste your anxiety... more power to you!
Seems that you will be ookay giving this a go since your husband already have a job , sponsorship and the fact that you have this PIO group available to tap into... WOW!

May God guide and keep you in whatever you do decide...

Amanda

What about a trail period - giving yourself the option of returning if you really don't like it. Your concerns are valid - some people don't settle here, but so many do.

Hi j.mh.

This is good to hear. We land in Melbourne on 11th August, and are going to live in Berwick or nearby. Its conforting to hear that you have settled so quickly. It seems a lot of us PIO's are choosing this area.

Dean
