Shipping Groupage quotes

I have had a number of quotes for groupage shipping which I thought would be useful to post here. We have had quotes for between 350 and 470 cu ft, so I have broken it down into price per cu. ft.

Robinsons 5.16
Dorre Bonner 4.66
Brittania 6.12
Simpsons 4.48
Anglo Pacific 5.45
PSS 5.22

So Simpsons are the cheapest and Brittania the most expensive.

Thanks for that. We have just had a quote for £3500 for groupage. Quote doesn't say how much cu ft but even so I would want my own container for that much. Who do you think you will go with? We have a 2 bed terraced with just the 2 of us. We are now looking to get other quotes and also seeing if we can get a better price from the company we have just received quotation from. Only just managed to pick myself up off floor after reading it.

We've been quoted 2,700 by PSS and we're in a 2 bed and it's just the 2 of us as well - do you reckon that's too much? Am getting a bit disheartened cos Crown and Anglo Pacific who were the other 2 companies we had in mind after feedback on POI haven't even called us back, so doesn't bode well. What did you get quoted Jo?

Hi

We got quoted £3500 inc insurance by John Masons. Does yours inc insurance? We are going to get other quotes, just not sure which ones to pick yet. Went on Simpsons site and you can do an online quote, although how accurate they are I don't know.

It's a minefield isn't it? We expected a price similar to yours but like you we haven't a clue really on what price to expect.

I know, we don't have a clue to be honest, we just used what other people on this site said about the various firms etc. Yeah it includes insurance and the guy who came round was v helpful, think I'd like to compare though as I just can't believe it costs that much, we've hardly got any stuff, just a small 2 bed house and it didn't include kitchen appliances. Think I'm going to keep chasing Crown as loads have found them good, but really annoys me that I've had to chase them up bearing in mind the amount of money we're going to pay them?!

We can't believe our quote is correct. Seen other people who have been quoted the same price by the same company as us, for sole use of 20ft container with stuff from a 3-4 bedroom house. We are going to query what space is allocated to us in the quote as all it says is "shared container". Surely the only way our quote is correct is if we have half of a 40ft container to ourselves? if it is in comparison to the sole use of a 20ft one. I'll keep you posted. Where are you going to?

Hi there

So how much do you get in 350 cu feet (roughly)? Other than insurance what extras do you have to pay for? Not done much in depth shipping research so not sure. Did your stuff "land" yesterday?

By the way I contacted Golden Arrow, so thanks for the number. We shall be using them. The cat has already packed her case!!

So am going to go with whoever the cheapest is out of PSS, Crown and Pickfords. Jo will let you know how much cubic feet/price is, can u let me know what quote you end up getting? We're going to Brisbane, wot about you?

Hiya

I've contacted a few more tonight, so I'll let you know what we get quoted. I've contacted Whites, PSS, Crown & Simpsons. Might try Pickfords too. Think I might have asked Robinsons for a quote too. I can't remember. We are going to Armidale NSW, which we have been told is why our shipping costs are more because it is so far away from port (6-7 hours from Sydney). Makes sense but not sure what to believe. John Masons wouldn't budge on price when OH phoned today.

Keep you posted.

Jo
