hi everyone, was just looking at the areas around mandurah on a real estate website, does anyone suggest any places i should look at? silver sands, meadow springs and greenfields look nice, but also rockingham and it's surrounding area looks cool too. also can anyone tell me why there are lots of houses for sale in greenfields? is it because of the hospital? please help? regards, jane. xx
Hi Jane,
We validated our visa in may of this year, loved Mandurah spoke to lots of EA ,residents of Mandurah all said to avoid Greenfields we never drove around the area but if locals say to avoid then thats good enough for me.
Good luck Jackie
We've been advised to avoid Greenfields and Rockingham. We visited Mandurah in March this year and are moving over there in August. The places we really like are Lakeland, Meadow Springs, Halls Head and Port Kennedy.
Lakeland is a new area with a school, shops and we think it is going to have a train station. This area is going to be our first choice, the only problem being, the school has a waiting list and our eldest is due to start school in January...not sure what we're going to do yet. Do you have children?
My brother lives in Silver Sands and that is a realy beautiful area, right by the sea.
thanks for your reply, so that's why greenfield's has lotsa houses available then, will defo avoid that area then thank you!
do you know where you'll be living yet? our friends are going to perth in oct of this year, they are not sure where to settle yet and another friend went to perth in april, she lives near mullaloo, in a rental, but it's really expensive for her, hopefully she will be able to find a nice house as she has £100 grand to start her off!
best wishes, jane. xx
hi jess
thank you for your input, we have been looking at meadow springs and silver sands, i can't believe how cheap the rentals are being so close to the beach.
we have 3 children, all girls (14, 12 and 4) but so far the oldest 2 are not impressed with the news that we're going to start afresh in oz, if they decide to stay here their dad has agreed to let them live with him, my 12 year old lives with him anyway, practically, lol. but my 4 year old keeps saying when are we going to live at the seaside? she does'nt realise which seaside!
how many children do you have? and how long is the school waiting list?
do you have a job to go to over there?
i could go on all day with my questions, but i feel like i'm being too nosey!
it would be nice to find out how you get on when you move over there, if that's ok?
My husband has a job in Perth so we have been lucky enough to get in on a 457 visa very quickly. I haven't got a job yet but I hope to get a part time job once I get out there.
I have two children, Tom is 4 and Eddy is 1. I'm so excited about the move but our heads are spinning at the moment. We got our visa approval on Monday just gone, we have managed to rent our house and we plan to fly out end of July/start of August. We are currently in the process of sorting out shipping our stuff.
What stage are you at? Have you visited Mandurah before? It is a beautiful place. My brother lives there and he loves it.
It would be good to keep in touch. I'll let you know how we get on.
hi jess,
we're at the "should we go stage?", we've been talking about it for ages, my friends are moving to perth in oct, so the idea came from them really.
they did a recce in jan of last year, we saw all their dvd footage and liked what we saw. i have never been to oz, but would go without a thought. we may go next year for a hol, but i just think if we bother to go all that way, why not just go and stay?
we have 3 girls, nicole is 14, katy is 12 and bryony is 4, katy lives with her dad and won't be coming, nik is undecided and b does'nt get a choice! my fella is a painter and decorater, and i work with autistic kids. we definately need a change of pace.
