booster seats and the airline

I was thinking of taking those small polystyrene booster seats (the ones without a back), to tide us over until we can buy proper ones over there. Was wondering if they would allow us to take them on the plane so we could essentially use them to boost the kids up for the trays.

Hi - I had more or less the same concern with taking car seats. I phoned Emirates today to ask them if you can take car seats into the cabin and they said yes, but it counts towards your carry on weight allowance - which is 7kgs per person. You can also put them in the hold but again, its part of you weight allowance (20kgs + an extra 40kgs if you are emigrating!) So, I don't see that booster seats wouold be a problem given car seats are bigger and heavier.
