I hate flying! Absolutely love take off and landing and hate the bit in the middle! Weird huh!

I`ll be brutally honest.............I loved the Aus flight that we did. We did London-LA ; LA-Auckland and then Auckland-Brissie. I read all the way through the first and last flights and slept in the middle!

Look on it as a means to an end! Look at what the flight will give you and that will be all the motivation that you will need!

Hi Deacon
Next time i fly from oz to uk or vice versa - i will make sure that i havent slept for yonks so i can sleep on the flight, its such a long way & so boring - perhaps i will find our if we could take a karokke on board & get everyone having a sing song, anything to pass the time LOL
all the best & have a safe flight (sorry guess you wanted a more positive reply)

Hi,I too am terrified of flying,I tried relaxation tapes but they didn't help, then after very nearly having a panic attack on the way to Greece(and trying not to show it in front of the kids)I decided on medical intervention! My doctor prescribed me some Valium and Beta-Blockers.I still get really nervous and NEVER SLEEP ,but it stops my heart beating like mad and I enjoy the yummy food and a movie!!!I would recommend a book called Flying without fear by Captain Keith Godfrey, that helped a bit.I have managed two flights to Oz now,so something must be working.Happy Flying.Sarah++++

Try Bachs rescue remedy, available at most chemists, I think I have spelt it right.
I hate flying and didnt fly until 5 years ago my first flight was to Florida, a eight hour flight, how scary was that!!!!!! since then I have done four flights to Florida and three flights to Oz. I will always hate flying but its something that has to be done, The big jets are not half as scary as the small ones used for short haul flights.
Just be brave and look what you will have at the end of it.

Try the Bachs it really does work.

Do you know why you are scared? I was a trolley dolly for over 17 years and came across many nervous passengers during those years. We used to be allowed to take passengers to meet the flight crew during the flight, which often used to help, but unfortunately that's no longer an option these days. There are courses that are run for nervous flyers, would you consider going on one of those? Tell the ground staff at check in that you are nervous about flying, and they will hopefully make a note of it, so the Cabin Crew will hopefully keep an eye on you during the flight, e.g. warn you in advance of any turbulance etc.

If you have any questions that I can answer about the flight, please don't hesitate to ask.

Good luck, you'll be fine!

Jarvl.
