Accomadation when you get there?
Hi all
I've just joined and been reading all the pages for the last 2 hrs...... doesn't time fly!!
I've got so many questions but i'll start with this one.
When you all arrived in Oz, where did you stay? Did you stay in holiday retail / caravan parks? I have heard it can take awhile to find places to rent, as we are going on a student visa we aren't able to buy.
Many thanks x
Hi EmmaLou
We're staying in serviced apartments in the city (Melbourne), thankfully it's all sorted through my husbands work.
We've managed to find a rental and will move there this weekend - so that works out that within 2 weeks of arrival in the country.
It's a great idea to search online and see what's available etc before you come. Also rentals here work on an 'open for inspection' process where the property is open for viewing for a 15 minute slot and then you apply from there. It's worth making a note of those that are open for inspection on a date that suits you once you've arrived and just go viewing loads.
I hope this helps.
Ask all the questions you want, it helps to be informed!!!

Thank you so much. We aren't making the move until next June when my OH starts college in Nambour. There is just sooooooooooooo much to think about my head has been swimming with questions and plans. We are coming over 4 a visit in October this year for 3 weeks so I might be in touch if that ok? Thanks again em x
We're moving in with my inlaws when we first arrive. We won't be staying long though as they've only got a 3 bed house and by then I'll have a nearly 15 year old boy, a nearly 13 year old girl and a 10 year old girl and I don't want them in the same room for too long. Just scared myself then looking at those ages!!
I don't imagine we'll be there for more than a month but it's reassuring to know we'll have somewhere to sleep while we're sorting out our own place.
