Red face how much money do we need?

Hi does anyone know how much money we need to apply for a visa? We are applying for a skilled migrant visa if my oh passes his vetassess practical in july but all our money is tied up in property and with the housing market as it is we are worried it won't sell so we will have very little in the bank, do they check bank statements and do they want to see evidence of savings and if so how much?
So many questions its all so daunting!!

Hi to you.

Firstly they do not check bank statments etc, when you apply for your visa it does state that you will not be entitled to state benifit so they expect youo to be able to keep yourself until you obtain a job.

Secondly visa cost vary we are doing it on our own without the help of an agent, the visa cost £999.89 or $2060, the TRA 150 + Courier. Our meds will cost £700 for 3 adults and 1 child.

If you use the services of an agent it will cost around another £1500+ depending on wether your case is straight forward.

We to have very little money and most is tied up in the house, we will be taking over around £10,000 which we have been assured by family over there that it will be enough to get a rental and pay bills and deposit for car. My husband is a head chef, and has been informed by several agencies that work will be no problem.

Do not get caught up in the money thing if you really want it go for it, theres always a way.

Thanks for that i feel much better i think thats all we will have to go out with £10,000 unless we can sell the house quick, all the waiting gives you time to worry about all the problems you may have the process is so daunting

Hi There.

When we started to look about moving out to OZ, we read on the au gov website that a family should try and take at least $25000 to support your selfs for at least 2 years in case you are unable to find work.

so thats about £12000, hope that helps.

Dee.
