Leaving house empty

Anybody leaving their house empty and just leaving cause you havnt sold it, OMG we are, leaving the sale if there is one!! to the estate agent and inlaw, just hope doing the right thing, too late now flights are booked for sept

Yep we will be doing the same, our flights are booked for 1st September and can't really see us selling the house by then, we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed.

Goodluck with the sale of your houses guys, unfortunatley we are not in the position to do this as we need our money basically so have to sell before we can go.

Well things won't be as cushy but then we wouldn't be buying straightaway anyway plus I suppose if the money is not in the bank it stops us from dipping into it and frittering it away at least hopefully when we do get it it'll mostly go towards our next house, well that is how I am looking at it.

We did that 18 years ago, Had our house on the market for 70,000 pounds. arrived in Oz and the house didnt sell for another 18 months and by then the market had slumped and we only go 48,000 pounds

. If it had sold we would have been so much better off in the early hard days. But hey were still here and survived

but it was hard as we had to pay mortgage and rent. but we got through that with two small children to provide for now everything else seems a doddle

If you're leaving your house empty you can have six months where you don't have to pay the council tax and then you pay a reduced rate. Also your buildings and contents insurance can be amalgamated for a cheaper price.

Yeah, we are too! But we have two houses for sale!!! One we had rented out. I told the tenant we were selling up and she found somewhere else. So we don't even have that income anymore. We have just told the estate agents to put ours to let as well as for sale. We also have a piece of building land for sale.
No-one is spending any money! Just a viewer would be nice!

We are offski as well. Flights are booked and everything else is being worked through methodically. We just can't live like this anymore. It seems to be that more and more people are having to take this course of action. For us it was a series of factors that pushed us to the decision. Neil's job waiting for him in Oz, Hayleigh getting a place in the school we wanted, surprisingly being offered a rental in the area we wanted, and me being offered voluntary redundancy. We've been living a half life since last October when we were granted the Visa. It'll be tight financially, but we've done the figures (again and again) and its achievable.

Time will tell if its a wise decision.

we aren't leaving house. selling before we go don't want comfort of being able to come back if we don't "settle" straight away. and we need the money don't want much of a mortgage when we get there
