Agents or alone?

Hi guys, would you suggest doing the whole application process on our own or use an agent, some people on pio are reluctant to use them, is this for any specific reason, or does nobody trust them.please give us your thoughts.

We are using an Agent. They were excellant getting us through the Trade Board as my OH had had different jobs on and off through the years. It was thanks to them we passed. We are still using them now although there is a lack of communication. I am sure they will come good nearer the time.

Some people do not need to use an Agent as they have done same job since leaving school and have all their qualifications and only need the one reference. If you are in that position then you probably will not need to use one.

Agents can be trusted but you must check to see if they are registered. One I hear about alot, here on PIO, is Go Matilda. Alan Collett often posts on here. They seem to be excellant.

Hi we are using Go Matilda and they have been great so far. It's alsways good to have somewhere you can go to with questions and to check out any thing before you submit it.

Hi, Like the other posts I think it depends on whether you feel your application will be straight forward or not. My oh needs to pass a skills assessment and do the complicated version too as he has no degree so we will be appointing Go Matilda to help us through it.

You will get lots of recommendations on here for agents.

got our visa through last week and did not use an agent..As I'm a nurse it may be more straightforward to get the relevant parts completed but have to say that the online application itself was fairly simple. The frustrating bit is waiting for news...
I suppose it depends on what is charged and the value you think it will add for your circumstances - in our case with the benefit of hindsight we did the right thing by going diy - one thing I'd say is don't go with an agent without checking exactly what's involved first so you're sure what you are actually paying for, as in our case it took us about 5 hours work to complete and if we'd used an agent we would still have had to provide this info. That would be a nice hourly rate for an agent had we used one...

Hi we didnt use an agent for any part but did need a little bit of help of here with scanning docs etc it took us around 5 months would of been sooner if we had received the email in oct instead it was jan before i rang to see how things were going, as they have said if it looks straight forward do it yourself otherwise use an agent, ring one as its free ask them all your concerns if they say dont worry its easy do it yourself.
