Best Airline to Perth

Hi all,

Well we finally got our visa granted last Monday (14/04) and are now busy searching for flights to do a rekkie in October '08.

We have a couple of friends who have made the move to Perth, and a few others who have visited Oz in the past using Singapore airlines. The feeling is Singapore Airlines are a good airline to travel with and there is plenty of leg room.

Can anyone recommend any other airline? Particularly interested if anyone has flown with British Airways.

Also has anyone flown with Royal Brunei?

Finally, are there any airlines we should steer clear of!!!

Cheers,

Snowy

A lot of people here in WA use Emirates - my own mother is here currently having used them and we have plenty of friends here whose relatives also use Emirates. The flight is still in two sectors - from London to Dubai (approx 7 hours) then Dubai/Perth (10-11hours approx). I have used Singapore airlines myself many times with the biggest sector being approx 12-13 hours London/Singapore then a 5 hour trip from Singapore to Perth.

I stopped using British Airways years ago and would never recommend them. They co-fly with Quantas who aren't too bad but you can't guarantee which airline you fly with.

Hope this helps - Cheryl

yes i used emirates too and were fine. I actually had flight that only had a 2 hour stop over in dubai, and have just booked parents on fight in may with 2 hour stop over so look out for those if you just want to get it over and done with. It doesnt give you much time to get duty frees though, which was disappointing!

Congratulations on getting your visa!

I've found Singapore good, never been with Emirates but they get some good reviews...
British Airways are fairly average.

I also like Malaysian, great food & some good offers… and you get three inches more leg room than BA/Qantas, which makes a lot of difference when you’re sat there all day!
You can increase your seat pitch from 31 to 38” with BA but it will cost several hundred quid extra.

Air New Zealand is my favourite for entertainment, leg room, food and the people... but it’d be a long way round to Perth LOL.

Don't know about Royal Brunei but someone one told me never fly Garuda.

Good Luck!

Hi

We have used Singapore Airlines once and Emirates twice. Both are excellant. We use Emirates now as they fly from Gatwick which is only half an hour's drive from us. We always book last 4 seats on the plane as you can recline seat right back and they are near the loo which is better for the kids.

We've flown with Emirates and Singapore and think Singapore were slightly better. My dad flew BA/Quantas - said BA were terrible but Quantas good (I've only flown internally with Quantas and thought they were good), My dad, flew Emirates last year and thought they were terrific, Nigels mum and dad came with Singapore and thought they were great.

We made our trip with Singapore this last time - our children were 7 and 11 and we ordered them adult meals - more choice and they actually ate more than they would with a kids meal.

We flew with Cathay Pacific via Hong kong from Heathrow.
Flight to HK was 10 hrs then from HK to Perth 7 and a bit hours. left UK 6pm so the kids slept for quite sometime during the trip as it was their bedtime!!...

the plane from the UK was delayed by 1 hour so we had no time at all in HK duty free as the connection flight was going... having said that we would have only had an hour to wait anyway!!

we arrived perth midnight so that fitted into the kids sleep time as well and they were hardly affected by jet lag....

Plane to HK was a large new plane with lots of interactive games and films to watch. plane from Hk was an older one and not as hight tech... but still had good entertainment.
