Hi
can anyone give us any idea on the best way to cope with the housing situation when we first arrive in Oz?
Our plan at the moment is to send our stuff from the UK about 6-8weeks before we leave, then its waiting for us when we land. (I would rather "camp" here without my stuff, so we can beg, steal and borrow from the rellies than struggle over there on our own).
My question is this - is the best thing to rent a furnished let for, say, 2 weeks while we check out areas for our longer term rental or would you suggest a hotel or similar for just a week and make the rental our top priority when landing? I know our stuff might be there waiting but I want a comfortable base for at least a few nights when we first land.
Obviously with 3 kids in tow, I want to make the process as calm and stress-free as possible, so any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If it's only going to be a couple of weeks I would suggest either a hotel/motel or serviced apartment.
You'll struggle to get a somewhere to rent for less than a 6 months period on a lease.
Personally I'd take the stress out of it and stay in a hotel/serviced apartment for a week while you find somewhere to rent for 6 months. Then take the 6 months to fully explore the area and find your ideal home to buy. The last thing you want to do is find yourself rushed or stressed into finding a permanent home and end up buying in an area you later find out is less than ideal!
Hi all
We have been here for 4 weeks and we rented 6 weeks worth of furnished holiday accommodation from the uk through the internet. Although its quite expensive to rent holiday houses it has given us a comfortable base to stay in whilst we look for a rental.
