We went for our medicals the other day but....youngest son has had blood and urine sent off to the lab, he's got protein in it, oldest daughter has got do redo her urine sample, and then there's me. I have to go and see my doc as they thought they heard a slight heart murmer and my blood pressure was up...... Great ! When and if all is sorted out will they then send off our meds to Sydney. OH didn't help when, after I'd told him, he says after all your saying we should give it a goe it'll be you who stops us from going....Again Great ! So near yet sooo B****y far.
Any advice and has anyone else had these sort of hiccups? Please cheer me up.
Helenx

Hi,
we did not have any problems with our even though I have some pre exisiting medical issues, thank goodness, I am sure this is a minor blip
so take a deep breathe and take it one step at time
keep on top of the Doctors or hospital that deals with each of your medical issues and make sure they put every thing in writing for you just in case you have to fight your case.
there have been a few people on here who have had problems with medicals and as far as I can remember they are all in Oz now so it is most definately not the end of your dream.
It will all be OK in the end I am sure, strap yourself in, you are on the visa application rollercoaster, no ride is ever the same but there are always ups and downs and lots of bumps along the way.
thinking of you

I failed my medical due to "blood in my urine" I had to have a second urine test and it turned out to be the strip that they test the urine with was over sensitive....now Ive passed and they are on there way to Sydney.............
I always have unexplained blood in my urine which has been investigated and they still didn't know what it was - sometimes it can just be an infection and nothing sinister. My friend had high blood pressure and had to see a specialist - but everything turned out ok and she got her visa which she validated last month. Try not to worry
Hi,
My son who was about 3 at the time so it's about 7 years ago now had blood and protien in his urine and he had to go to the hospital for tests, the hospital tried 3 times unsucessfully to put die into his veins so he could have a scan of his kidneys. They couldn't do it as each time they tried to inject the die into his vein they collapsed. Any way the long and the short of it was they were quite sure the blood and protien were caused by an infection and nothing more. He has certainly never had any problems since. Hope this is the case for your son. Good luck with the medicals.
Helen I see you are in Reading, we are just down the road in Basingstoke and are having a hell of a job trying to find somewhere that can fit us in to do our xrays and kids medicals, where did you have yours done ??
thanks

I persistently have haematuria (blood) and occasionally protein in my urine, I have had all the checks done and they cannot find where it is coming from. They think could be gynae. However all this aside, i went armed with all my tests results and a postive blood on the dipstick on the day. My meds were passed no problem
I could just be a simple urine infection - sorted by anitbiotics.
With respect to the heart murmur. Very common. I would go to your GP and get an echo sorted. I too have a heart murmur (small leak on mitral valve) two echocardiograms to say it is trivial,,,,they were happy with that and did not want any further.
With regards to your BP , i dont know...maybe just white coat hypertension. Get yourself a machine and test at home. Again your GP can help here.
I have all sorts of other stuff on my medical history and i got through ok...Im sure you will, just may take a little longer.

Hi Guys and many thanks for all your replies it's great to have some excellent friends on here to help me in my hour of need..."wipe's tears from eye's".
To Helaine, my nearest neighbour !
I know exactly what you mean, there's 6 of us ! We went to The Bridge Clinic like Steve, they do 100 emmigration medicals a month the woman told us so they know what their doing, and it's quite easy to find. Here's their address :-
The Bridge Clinic, Oldfield Lodge, Bridge Road, Maidenhead, Berks, SL6 8DG.
Tel :- 01628 760900 Fax :- 01628 706909 website :- The Bridge Clinic Home Page.
It costs £200 per person 15yrs and above, our daughter who's 14 cost £171 and our little one cost us £92 (she's 19 month's). And yes we did rob a bank to pay it LOL !
Went to see my Doc today he redid my BP 145/80 (it was 170/95) so at least it's come down a bit, and I do have a slight murmer but nothing significant, just have to get him to write a letter to the emmigration doc's above to say what he found.
Hope this helps,
Helenx
