Stressing now, please help!

Well, ok it might not be a major stress compared to smoe people but it is for me, I just had the police check forms in the post tray at work when I read a post by someone.....

I have filled in 3 subject access requests for all three counties I've lived in and paid the £10, now I am reading that this isn't sufficient for immigration and you need to pay £35 for some certificate or other???

PLEASE PLEASE can someone clear this up, have I filled the right ones in and should I put them back in the post or have I got the wrong ones???????

Hi there

I am 99% sure that just one subject access request, submitted to the Data Protection Unit in the county where you live now, will get you a UK-wide police check covering your whole life.

A lot of Agents are jumping the gun with the bew-style police checks. That is only a trial being conducted between Oz, the UK and various other countries. In the UK it is being run by the Association of Chief Police Officers.

Once the new trial has been going for a while, the ACPO will evaluate it and advise the UK Govt about whether it is worth adopting the new scheme for good, but all that is still some way off.

DIAC have confirmed that they are content to accept either type of police check from the UK until an eventual decision is made about the new scheme.

If you contact your local Data Protection Unit, they will be able to confirm this to you.

Best wishes

Gill

thanks for that, big help.

I do have to fill in three as it asks for each jurisdiction I have lived in (Wales for 20 years then West and South Yorks for 5) but I dont mind paying £30 in total, 3£% each would have been a bit steep as well as everything else though!

I think some of the posts on this forum have been worrying me unnecessarily as apparently the de facto visa is one of the easier ones. Perhaps I should be more selective about reading them!

Its just one for the UK, I think it there is a separate one for Scotland, and there might be a separate one for Wales (not sure) but only one for wherever in England.
