What hotels in Perth are good & cheap!

Hello
We are coming to Perth for 2 weeks in April as part of our Oz reckie and need to get some accomodation. Can anyone recommend somewhere or any good websites. We have 3 young kids so want to book somewhere before we come - at least for the first few days so we can get over the flight and get our barings.

Thanks
Viks

Why don't you try booking a holiday home on the coast near Perth as the city is rather quiet and you'll have the rush hour to contend with if you are staying in the city. Take a look at the Perth Tourist website and take a peek at the houses they have on there, we recently booked a house in Dunsborough and it was absolutely beautiful and there were loads on the websites for Freeo, City Beach, Subiaco, Swan River blah blah blah.

There are some lovely apartments in Perth or just across the river which have pools etc. We are staying in Perth in a week or so at the Waterside Apartments which are near Kings Park but within walking distance of the city. They have a pool, gym and restaurant on site plus parking. They also have the bus stop outside and buses around Perth CBD are free which is fantastic.

G'day

Good and cheap are on opposite sides of the page.

Probably for the first few days you are going to be jet lagged, tired, excited, emotional, happy, culture shocked and a dozen other things too. This is not a time to be in cheap dodgy accommadation. First impressions do count, and a good part of how you feel about Oz will be shaped in those first days.

Can you remember the posts on here from a chappie who was given 'free' accommodation in his new company's flat in the middle of a Melbourne slum area. I wouldn't be surprised if he ever gets over it and ends up going back to the UK.

So my advice is book somewhere nice, at least for the first few days which has everything you might want, like dinner at 4:30am; good curtains to let you doze during the day, nice things nearby so you can go for a walk and explore. There's plenty of time later to try 'cheap' accommodation.

Thanks will take a look at the website.

I agree with you Bob, we are going to try and get something nice for a few day so we can settle and find our feet! We are in Oz for 3 months travelling round in a motorhome and Perth will be the only spot where we will have to find a hotel so am going to try and not blow the whole budget on the whole 2 weeks but if we find somewhere nice, might not want to move!

Thanks

Hi Viks

Some one on PIO told me to go to a site called ozstays.com. I must say I was quite impressed. Infact we are actually staying a house in South Perth near the Swan River at the moment.
