forward address

Hi all,
this may seem a silly question, am at the moment trying to notifiy gas, elec, water, they are all asking for a forwarding address in oz, how can i do this, we havent sorted rental, we we are doing this when we arrive,as any one else came across this, i just dont no what to do, can any one help me, am stressing myself out bout this, we leave for brisbane THREE WEEKS tomorrow oh god.

Ah good question, can't answer it sorry.

But I would like to know. Why is it you have to give a forwarding address I want to drop off the radar.

I have paid my bills so why do they need to know and do we have to tell them, what happens if we dont tell them.

I have the same concern, its not just utility bills I`m concerned about but mail in general which will still be in the post when I move out. I will need a forwarding address too

Hi,

You can't give them something you don't have so I wouldn't worry too much. It's their problem, not yours. Give them your mobile number and tell them you'll contact them in a few weeks to provide a forwarding address.

Keep a record and inform them of your final meter readings and pay any outstanding bills. Log your phone calls (log dates, times and names of who you spoke to just in case they query anything).
In 3 weeks time you'll be starting your new life in Oz... how exciting is that???

For your mail cant you give a relatives address? they could forward or open it for you if you trust them lol
Utilites i agree hoping to drop off the radar, after i have paid of course.

I've been thinking of this but we're going to leave my mum's address so she can open any mail and let us know if it's anything we need to sort out. You can change all utilities to a new address and then pay for any redirecting with royal mail so at least you'll get what ever is sent - junk and all.

I know!!!
Have all your mail forwarded to your local Post Office in your new home town in Oz.
They will hold it for you.
Then when you get here set up a PO box.
Give them a bell, they are very helpful,
That's what we did anyway.

we had a holiday rental on arrival in oz and just gave them that address, when we changed addresses we just emailed relevant people.

We have come across the same thing, and i am sorry to say they need an address... We have said we don't know where we are living and they have asked for a family / friend address here in the uk, and i suppose it's where they can send junk mail to as well !!!!
