Question Springer Spaniel

Hi all,

Does anyone already over in Oz have an English Springer Spaniel? If so, has it settled in OK?
We have a two year old Springer and live in a rural area so he is able to have plenty of long walks off the lead and loves to dive into bushes and brambles as Springers do! He also chases Spiders and other insects so we are a bit worried as to whether it is a good idea to bring him to Oz when we move (hopefully by Dec 2008 - Sunshine coast). Can't really not bring him as he is part of the family, but will he survive the Aussie terrain??

hi darren and sharon.
we have a cocker spaniel.she will be one in april.full of life and we also live in a rural area, where we walk for miles. from what ive read and spoken to people on here that have all breeds of dogs, they do settle very quickly, and adjust to the heat too. i would think doing what you do here on a summer day, keeping them in the shade and giving them plenty of fluids.from what i gather they will be fine. it would be more heart rending for us to leave her here.good luck .

Hi Darren & Sharon
Your dog sounds wonderful! We have a cross chihuhua/yorkshire terrier. His nose is on full alert at all times and dives into bushes, etc. He eats spiders! That wouldn't be a good idea in Oz. However, we are planning on taking him and just hope for the best. Just hope he doesn't get gobbled up by a python like the poor little chichuha a few weeks ago in Brisbane.

Good luck!

Les
