Electrical Gear

Hey everyone, i was assuming that we would have to get rid of all our elactrical equipment as the plugs are all wrong, but looking at the voltage in oz i am thinking we could just use travel plugs until the item dies and them just replace things as needed. If anyone has tried this or has any other reasons why this might not work please let us know as it would be a bit of a wait of my mind.

Many thanks
Marty and Debs.

Hi Debs & Marty

Most of us here in oz just pop to Bunnings and buy heaps of aussie plugs and swap them over - we brought every thing electrical from land line phones to steros to tvs to playstation to alarm clocks etc etc and all works great.

UK Fridges probably won't work too well here. The UK fridge isn't designed to cope with a tropical environment so the further north you live the more likely it is to give you trouble... frost free not working properly, air ducts blocking up causing the fridge compartment to become too warm and higher overall energy costs (although that's not too significant).

Thats very true, we did not bring ours due to this, BUT be warned They are ridiculously priced here...expect to pay easily over £1000...we were gobsmacked! In the end bought a reconditioned one for $500
