Tools of the Trade...

Hi
My OH is a diesel mechanic and we are shipping his tools and tool box over, our removals company have advised us to clean the tools thoroughly before they come to pack us up. We have spent the best part of two days, power washing and scrubbing till all my nails have broken

and I am convinced they are as spotless as they are going to get BUT am now thinking are we supposed to have had them professionally cleaned?? Anyone with any experience of this??

I put all my tools in the dishwasher after i had cleaned them with brakecleaner.I also had a new toolbox but put new drawer liners in this.

Hiya gary is a diesel mechanic and we brought most of his stuff,he ditched the old grubby tool boxes for new plastic ones and all the tools went through the hot engine wash,we had no problems at all hope this helps

Thanks for this, the toolbox is as new and I think we have got the tools as clean as possible - do you think we should bin the older ones that look a little grubby then? Sorry we are coming in a couple of weeks now and if I can find something to worry about then believe me I will!!!!

Some of ours were over 10 yrs old so didnt look brill but i dont think theyd even open the boxes to check!

good post , didnt think of this , might be worth just selling all the tools and replacing when i get there ?

hi all,
im on my way in two weeks and i was told today that my 240 v tools would't work out there. do anyone no if this is true???

not much time to sell them if they dont.....
