Relocation agents

Has anyone used a relocation agent to secure a long term (6 months plus) rental before they left the UK?

I've been in contact with a few and am 80% happy that it'd work out a few thousand dollars cheaper and a whole load less hassle to use one, basically they'll view and photo 10 properties then liase with the owner/agent to sort all paper work and secure the property you want.
Obviously i'd need to put an element of trust into this person that they wouldn't land me in the ghetto for 6 months.

Has anyone any experiences or views on this?

Hi Paul, we haven't any experience of this, but the agent we're using for our visa (she's based in Brisbane) has relocation agents and I think we're going to consider doing something similar to what your doing. Like you say, should (hopefully) make your transition to Australia a little more hassle-free.

If it were me, I'd let them find you prospective properties/areas and then review each one as best you can. I'm sure if you ask on here re. the areas/locations your relocation agent is proposing, then some other fellow PomsIn Ozzers will give you honest feedback.

Good luck Paul,

Jenny

Sarah does this at Gold Coast relocations, i know she has helped loads of people succesfully, she views the propertys etc for you ,and being a pom you know youll be able to trust her, lol.
The only reason some people hold back on doing this and stay furnished short term with people like myself seems to be because theyll have no furniture or utensils at all, great if your not bringing much over ,like us,lol, big shopping sprees are top of the list but air beds arent very appealing to some people, lol.!
The other reason is not knowing the areas, renting short term gives you the chance to look around, But if you have a good idea where you want to be theres no way Sarah will set you up in a dodgy area or the middle of an industrial estate, lol. She knows the coast better than most and will help you 100% !
Good luck with everything
Cal x
