Yep, we would go for Westpac too. Just did our's and it was, by far, the easiest part of the whole thing so far! Spoke with our Bank Manager, as well as people from PiO, and everyone said Westpac.

Good luck with everything!

Take care,

Andrea x

we also went with westpac, we opened our accounts summer last year online with no worries at all, and they have sent statements every couple of month or so, all you need to do is when you get to OZ go t the branch and validate the accounts.

i spoke to ANZ and they told me to fax the forms off to them. the account was opened for me within 48hrs. this was last tuesday (26th Feb). thursday morning i had three letters on my floor giving me my account, branch and internet log on details which all worked straight away. sat in the lounge at KL airport now and will be activating the account over the weekend. if it is as easy as the first bit - then happy days.

we opened our account with Westpac too before arriving in Oz then had to just go to a branch to validate ourselves and provide our ID. Check out the tax situation if you are thinking of putting in a substantial amount of money - see previous thread - as you will pay the higher rate tax of 45%+ until you arrive and are given your Tax File Number this can be claimed back but you have to be aware of financial year end as this can affect when you can reclaim the monies.
