If a person is obese - BMI 31 - and has high blood pressure, but is taking medication so there are no obvious health problems, how much of a problem could this be?

The high blood pressure is an effect of a leaking heart valve. I have spoken to a panel doctor and was told that the cost over the next ten years would be a factor, does anyone else have anymore information?

It may help your case if you can show that you are working at getting your weight down, but to be honest unless their are underlying health problems because of the weight it shouldn't cause you any problems at all. Good luck with the meds.

I really can't believe that I'm replying to this thread. Am I being brave or just stupid? This was a subjest that really got to me before and after my medical.

Here goes:

I'm short, obese and a very high BMI. My blood pressure is very slightly high (due to my weight) but healthy and walk miles. The doctor said that everything was ok but I could be called back for further tests due to my weight. Worried about it until we got the all clear. Never was called back - thank God.

If I can get through, then anyone can. Now, where's the Wii fit - lol
