We got all our phones unlocked in the UK, 2 were on Vodafone contract, 1 was a Tesco PAYG and 1 O2 PAYG. Once over we all bought Vodafone SIM cards from Dick Smiths at $2 per card - even got to look through to see what number you wanted. All of them work fine, but they are still loaded with UK settings so can't send photo messages which comes in handy now and then especially when the car thermometer was at 46c on saturday. The phones are cheap to run as well, the kids have a $29 per month voucher which gives them $130 worth of calls, we have $49 maxi cap which allows us $310 worth of calls, we find ourselves on the phone to the UK for hours at the end of the month to use it up.
