Thumbs up Pss

hi there we had them out to quote and they were really good quoted us £2200 not quite sure how much space though, we are taking almost all our furniture so i thought that was pretty good, they send a guy out who goes around the house with you, tells you what you can and cant take then they send you a detailed quote and a big booklet on moving to oz the movers come in a pack everything even the loft....so sounds good to me.
we are going with them and they are the only quote we have had.

Thanks for your reply Helaine. It just seemed a little strange that they advertise on PIO but no-one mentions them when people ask about shipping companies. I don't know if it's a 20' container that you are having, but if it is, that is a very good price.

Thanks again
The oldgit

Hi Ron & Chel
we've got them coming round on Monday so I just hope they come across competent and with a realistic price. It sounds so easy but some of these companies come across as if they don't really do much long distance shipping and are really just seeing it as an opportunity to make a quick buck without really knowing what they are doing and then you get the other companies that do know what they are doing but think you are some sort of idiot that will pay whatever they ask. Hopefully PSS are going to be the ones because this is starting to become a bit of a chore now.

wishing you the best of luck
The oldgit

Hi,

We used PSS!
I thought they were good. The price was reasonable. They came and packed all our stuff (for inventory and customs purposes) and did this very well - we only had a few broken items when they arrived, I expected more. The thing to bear in mind though is that they use contractors over here. I think we were told that it would take about 9-12 weeks to get to Sydney. Our shipment took 9 weeks to arrive in Sydney, however, took ages to go through customs and quarantine. Problem was that the company this end (Chess Removals) really don't fuss too much about your stuff (despite you sitting on the floor for weeks!) until its in their hands - then they want to get it delivered asap. I ended up phoning almost every day pestering them to chase customs and they got a little fed up with me! We got our stuff 14 ish weeks after it left our house in Sounthend and they did a really great job of unpacking everything.

Thanks for the info Caroline but now I still don't know who to get. I would have had Crown but they came in at £4800 they must have thought I was a mug so I sent them an e-mail explaining that I had no intention of paying for their free bar at their Christmas party

Cheers
The oldgit
