School fees

Hello, just wondering if anyone could tell me how much to expect to pay for school years per year at primary school. Also any guide on healthcare fees per year would be fab too.

Thanks in advance:wub:

Nat

Hi Nat,
My daughter has just gone into pre primary, she was 5 last Oct, her school fees are ..................
Voluntary Contribution A$ 60.00
Stationary A$ 65.00
Uniform ( dress ) A$ 50.00
Additional items that you have to provide eg art shirt, library bag, tissues, saop, towel etc, about A$30.00.

These fees will differ from school to school, I am led to believe that my daughters school fees and uniform is rather high compared to other schools im my area. Then this is it for the rest of the year unless you need to buy additional items from the uniform shop.

Hiya,

We're on a 457 Business Visa in Sydney and we pay $11,500 EVERY YEAR just to send out kids to school here, then we pay a VOLUNTARY!!! fee of about $200 each, and have to buy their writing books/school trips etc.

Kookaburra...is that per child? How many children do you have? This subject is very important to me because we have 4 children! At this rate we would not be able to afford to send our kids to school.
Regards, Caroline.

There are many really good state schools about - suppose it depends where you live. We have paid $110 school fees a year, and $165 for book pack with allsorts in, there's a couple of voluntary contributions but these are just $40 a couple of times a year. The independent schools obviously are like private schools in England and are charged per term - they are often called colleges (well they are in Queensland) which is quite confusing and take children from 5 to 18 years.

Have a look on the Government Education website for the state you want to live in and it will give you information on all the state and independent schools and provides links to the schools own website which will then tell you their fees.

Hi Caroline, that's for 2 of them, (13 and 17), the money goes to the government and not the school. It's been a huge drain on our finances and we'd have been better going to Victoria as they don't charge!!!!
They are in state schools but we'd have to pay double for private.
