Parent visas can anyone help?

Hi all,

We are new to this site and just wondered if anyone can help! Our only daughter and her husband are being sponsored to go to Sydney on a permanant visa and we eventually want to go over and join them. Is there a time limit for them to settle before they can begin to sponsor us if so does anyone know?

Are you thinking about Contributory Paret visas? If so, there is o specific time limite as such but the Sponsor (your daughter) needs to be able to demonstrate that she is "settled" in Australia befoe you can apply. If teh Sponsor has been living in Australia for two years or more, has bought/is buying a house etc, whether or not s/he is "settled" will not be queried.

However, I know of cases where the application was submitted after the Sponsor had only been living in Oz for around 16 months and there were no problems.
