Confused!!!! New here

Hi i'm new to this site and having read quite a few peoples posts i have noticed they say TRA - probably going to make myself sound thick now but what does this mean?? I am hoping to apply for my visa without using an agent but haven't a clue what TRA is.

You all seem really friendly on here so i'm hoping someone can sort my confusion out!!!

Hi CAROLYN Your TRA is your skills assessment. Its where you have to describe and show your qualifications in what you do. It the hardest part of the application and they are very precise in what they want. Good luck

Hi Carolyn

Welcome to Poms in Oz.

As Jo says, if you want a skilled visa for Oz the one of the (several) askills assessment bodies has to approve your qualifications and experience before you can apply for a visa.

Trades Recognition Australia is what its name implies - it is the body that deals with most of the skilled trades. Nurses have to go via the ANMC, IT wizards via the Australian Computer Society, engineers via Engineers Autralia and so on.

Please find your skill on the ASRI list and then you can see ehich skils-assessment body you need and what qualifications you need:

A-Z Occupations List - Australian Skills Recognition Information

Cheers

Gill

Hi

Thank you for the responses - makes sense now.

I am wanting to go across as a student so wouldn't need to be assessed for a trade as i don't have one on their list.

Hi Carolyn

If you want a student visa, please try the following:

Students - Visas & Immigration

Is your occupation in demand? - Workers - Visas & Immigration

The MODL changes maybe every six or 8 months or so, depending on what skills are considered to be in demand at the time. It makes sense to study for soethig which is not likely to be removed from the MODL.

Do you have any particular field of study in mind?

Cheers

Gill
