Selling your house?

Hi all

Does anyone know how long a skilled visa lasts once it has been issued? because we need to sell our house before we can move, and with the housing market going the way it is it may take some time to sell.

I assume that you do have to wait until you have been issued with a visa as i guess they can refuse it at any time.

As far as Im aware, you visa is back dated to the the date of your medicals or police checks (which ever were earlier) and you have a year from that point in which to validate your visa. You don't necessary have to move there within that year, you just have to pay Aus a visit to get your passport stamp.

Don't quote me on this, Im sure someone else on here can advise if Im right or wrong.

Hi,you have 5 years to make the move from the date of issue, but you have to validate it within one year like the others have said, however if you left it until the 5 years you will have problems with residents return visas if you ever need to return to the uk,unless you are a ozzy citizen,
