Phoenix will become famous soon enough
I travel all over the world with tools in suitcases and even take toolboxes with me, just dont try and take them into the cabin.

The only thing you have to be careful of is chemicals and pressurised containers, these are frowned on..... and don't make the mistake of forgetting to put your Leatherman (done this myself) in your check luggage as whilst they don't mind too much what goes into the hold, they will freek when you try and go through security with it

Hiya, we packed bricklaying trowels, jointer, hammers, cordless drill, lines and all kinds of general tools. We put them all in one case, then if they pulled it they would all be together, but no questions, just came through fine. I admit I was thinking they would be a bit suspect!

Its an expensive penknife/multitool, I use mine daily and normally always have it on me, worth about £120 and gutting when it gets confiscated at security because you used it to repair your case before you left home and dropped it in your jacket pocket and forgot about it

Hi Guys

Thanks for the question Tracy & the replys cos I just assumed it would be a big no no & that everything like that would have to go in the crate. OH is a chippy.

Mind you I dont know if I can give up any of our weight allowance for tools when travelling with four kids - I think two of them will be too young for any allowance! But I have been told if you tell the airline you are immigrating the sometimes increase your weight allowance! & we might need a big hammer so Jake can deal with any big spiders!!!

Take care

Rachel

That's what I was thinking Rachel... weight, but there are so many things I'm sure we'll need when we first arrive, laptop, printer, tools, bedding, cooking paraphanailia, kitchen sink??? Can we have a list of what we CAN TAKE ON THE PLANE.... THANKS!
(And maybe a definite NO-NO List!?)
