Hey guys, can anyone shed some light on this for me please.
We (me and my OH) are hoping to relocate to the Caloundra (Sunshine Coast) area when we ge our visa, however, our agent has warned us that this area is restricted to just 2 dogs per household, unless you have some many m2 of land/garden.
We have 3 dogs, and there is no way on earth I could leave any of them behind in the UK!!
Does anyone know if there is tru for the Sunshine coast area and if there is anyway around this?
Or does anyone know of nice suburbs to live where 3 dogs is fine?
We are worried we won't be able to afford a property wih lots of land when we get there!
I can see putting restrictions on dogs per household is a good idea in theory, but having 3 cavalier king charles spaniels (like ours) is not the same as having 3 great big dogs is it? My 3 put together wouldn't make 1 full grown german shepherd or rotweiller! ha ha.
Look forward to hearing your words of wisdome guys.
sorry i have no idea what the laws are in the sunshine coast but can i just say that your display picture is lovely!!
I have 2 cavalier king charles spaniels 1 tri colour and 1 black and tan and they will be flying out here to melbourne on 3rd March.
I can't wait!!!
I know what you mean about the size of dogs i do think that is a good point.
I know a user called monty has 3 cavaliers but not too sure where she moved to it may be worth asking her about the process with her 3??

I was under the impression you can have 3 but have to apply for some sort of licence rather than just registering them.In all fairness its supposed to be 2 per house but there are countless houses you drive past with more than that and i cant see many of them forking out a few hundred dollars on a licence !

There are alot of houses around us with more than one dog, the plots are less than 1000 metres, so there is a way around it... Your best bet is to probably phone the various Councils and ask them.
It's the same where we live in Adelaide. I know that you can apply to have more than two dogs, and as I understand it a dog warden just comes out to inspect the property to ensure you'll have enough room for the animals and they won't be a nuisance to the neighbours.
I know someone whose yard is a simliar size to ours (on a 600-700m plot) and she has two springer spaniels, one cocker and is in the process of applying to have another cocker.
Of course you could always neglect to register them at all, then hope you never get spotted by a warden! We know someone who hasn't registered her dog...
I think you are wise to look into this now, but only for your peace of mind as I would be very surprised if having three dogs is impossible unless you have acreage! But then what do I know? What sounds right and what is right can be very different. LC
Sorry to be so bad at replying !
I don't think it will be a problem. Normally the council rangers do a house check for 3 dog application, check with neighbours etc and it is normally fine. This is suburbia though. Think if on some kind of acergae you can have up to 6 dogs.
Don't want to put a damper on things but you might struggle with renting though ?? I spoke with an agent the other day re renting with dogs and she said that they tend to ask for a pet bond/deposit and sometimes ask for doggie references !!

Tried Perth, now moving to the Sunshine Coast. It's a big country !
We can have 3 dogs in Tasmania but they have to be registered as all dogs do anyway and also we had to apply for a kennel licence which is fairly straight forward this is done by the Council and an official comes around to check the fencing and also the sleeping arrangements for the dogs. An advert has to go into the newpaper just to notify the residents of nearby properties . The only real problem is barking but if the dogs live inside the house this isnt too much of a big deal. We brought 2 Jack Russels over from the UK and have since got a Labradoodle . There was no trouble over here to obtain or register a kennel licence. Hope everything goes OK with you I wouldnt have left my dogs either . Husband possibly!!!!!
