Some dumb questions coming up!

These are probably stupid things to worry about, but they have been bugging me.

Do you have some form of council tax when renting or buying a home in Oz?

Can you pay bills by direct debit or something similar?

And can you get groceries delivered if you live a bit far from the shops?

Do you have some form of council tax when renting or buying a home in Oz? No, included in rent, along with water (which covers your ambulance cover)

Can you pay bills by direct debit or something similar? Can do; I pay at post office like an old person!

And can you get groceries delivered if you live a bit far from the shops? Not that I know of, sorry!

Lets see if I've got this right; your water rates cover you if you should need an ambulance?! We really are moving to a different country!

Do you pay a council tax if you are living in your own home, ie. not renting?

Thank you both for your answers. Can I assume that we would be sent the council tax bill after purchasing a house? I think that's what happened here, but it's been over a decade since we first bought this place.

It depends on what state your in for whats included in the council tax - which is payable yearly by the property owner generally between $500- $1500 per year.
As for direct debit - very common. Also 99% of bills can be paid over the internet - system is called B pay
As for home deliveries in Sydney for sure Wollies and colies home delver plus I know wollies runs a home shop - buy over the internet for home delivery
