Veggies

having a few people over for Australia day and the misses has invited her work collugue and her OH. My problem is that they;re veggies and don't know what you do for veggies at a bbq. I suppose i would be rude to set aside a bowl of lettuce for them?

Do it the australian way and ask them to bring what they want to cook on the bbq and you'll provide the salads, bread etc.

Pasta salad, baked potatoes or new potatoes roasted in the oven with rosemary and thyme, corn on the cob, veg kebabs (mushrooms, capsicums, zucchini, cherry tom, slice of corn on the cob, onion and voila!)

Yes you have to be a bit careful, some vegos dont like pseudo meat so it may not be a good idea to go out and buy a tin of Sanitarium snags for example. ALso, if you do decide on vegie skewers on the barbie - you need to be careful about cooking them away from the meat - not really a good move to do the steak then whack the vegie skewers on the same fat laden bars. I'd tell them it's a barbie and ask them what they would like or ask them if they want to bring something of their own to bbq.

Edited to add, IIRC Jamie Oliver has some good ways of cooking bbq vegies so that they dont rub shoulders with the sausages.

mais oui aldo (ok that's the limit of my french lol)

Good idea of quolls about the veggies and the meat though, i'd never thought of that.
