Furniture

Hi. Need some help in deciding what to take or not. Originally I thought we would take very little furniture with us because it will be a chance to get new stuff. Now after a couple of removal quotes I am thinking that it's actually going to be costly to rebuy stuff. I have had a look at a couple of furniture websites people have recommended and can't find similar stuff. We have a coffee table and hall table that is heavy wooden indian made stuff. Has anyone got any words of wisdom in about what furniture to take or to leave?

Personally I would be for leaving it behind unless you have a deep sentimental attachment to it. Sell if for all you can get and then build up gradually. You can get some quite good cheap starter stuff and then when you find things that really appeal you can buy up gradually. I actually think it is a good time to declutter (that's supposed to be good feng shui isnt it??)

hi,
Not have any words of wisdom ,but 2 friends of ours who have moved over there took all their Indian kind of stuff and are really pleased they did as apparantly the oz stuff is a little'groovy'(!)
We had a removal company yesterday for a quote and confirmed to me that I want to take all I can, several reasons:I want familiar stuff from home,I plan to enjoy exploring new beaches etc rather than looking for furniture to buy new and it would all cost too much to replace compared to the price I would get if I tried to sell it here!
It's very personal and I am sure you will make the right decision, but if you take it and regret it ,you can get rid of it over there .which is much easier than not taking it and regretting it!
Good luck with your decision.
Pottsy .
