Self Shipping

Hi everyone,

I know it has been posted on here before but has anyone looked in to or know of anyone who has shipped them selves, a friend of ours said he can provide the container and shipping for around £500, then we would sort our own insurance e.t.c out,

I know each item has to be documented and logged but would it really be so difficult???
Cheers
Neil

Neil, I'm sure it can be done, but I think it would need a lot of research and planning. Probably a lot of red tape at the Australian end to check out with customs and that sort of thing. Remember as well your dealing with your life long valued possessions and furniture so its not a subject to take lightly. BUT, having just found out how much the Removal companies are RIPPING US OFF on the Insurance, I'm with you all the way. Luckily I picked up a post on here and have just saved myself a small fortune (£800) by doing my own Insurance on a full marine policy. They (removals) are catching everyone on the Insurance, and if anyone chooses the option for a set value which they calculate, instead of the itemised list where you total up the value, they are making even more out of it.

I took it off a thread earlier in the week and telephoned them, all sorted out in a day or so and the saving paid for nearly 2 months rent when we get there. http://www.lettonpercival.co.uk
Get a full marine policy, Can't fault them.
