Hi my husband and I arrived August 2007 with our 3 children - our sons 17 and 16 and our daughter 11. We have settled well but miss our family and friends, Our children seem to have a better social life than we do. We have not even met anyone from UK over here! We would love to know where everyone goes for a beer. We miss the social side of things. How did you cope with the social side of things when you arrived and has it got any better?We are in Wheelers Hill not far from Glen waverley.

It took us a while to make friends when we got here..But after being here for 5 months now, we have a big social network..We mainly drop into each others hosues for a get together..The weather at the moment has kept us from the beach but we are now loving it..Most of our friends are aussies who we have met along the way..Like Ali says invite them over...I was chatting to our real esate agent on the phone the other day and then she called back five minutes later inviting us to her house on Sunday for a bbq...She is a pom tho :)...When I first got here it was hard making friends but now we have lots and am feeling better because of it

Hello The Barnetts

We arrived in Melbourne in early November and after staying in a furnished apartment for a while have now sorted ourslves out with a 12 month rental in Brighton East (not too far from Wheelers Hill I think??) I keep saying to my wife Cecilia that we don't get out to the pub enough(may have something to do with a 2 & bit year old daughter called Alicia) but would love to meet up for a beer or alternative (depending on little one). Drop me a PM and hopefully we can sort something out.
