..we are pingpongpoms (aka my username)..it's a hard one as once you get into the swing of this, calling anywhere 'home' can be difficult, and you can become very torn..i am from Perth originally and came back with my parents in my teens, so have always longed to go back, and Aus will always be in my heart..my OH and children are English, except for our little one who was born in Aus, and now my OH feels very divided between the uk which has for the majority been his home, and Aus which he now loves..i think you should have a good think about the reasons you came back and whether they will affect you strongly again if you return, because as you say it can be hard financially, but also emotionally..they say it can take two to three years to start to feel settled in a new country, so maybe you just didn't give it enough time..it's such a personal decision and sometimes so confusing, but i think a good long hard think is essential before you decide and a list of pro's and con's for you..i hope this helps..all the best and keep in touch and us up to date..

Most of the advice I've seen says you need minimum 2 -3 years to settle anywhere, some people need longer. honestly whatever you decide agree on a time frame you are going to use as your min. e.g. we've agreed that we are going for a min of 2 years and then if one of us absolutley hates it then we'll think about coming back.

Also make lists of why you went and why you came back. the reasons will still be there, so make a balanced decision.

Hi,

I must say I agree with heieup, we have agreed on three years as our time frame! My husband was born in Oz but left aged three, we have never been over, so it will be a big step. Our 12 year old son will obviously be at school and we don't want him being pushed from pillow to post while still in Education!

I hope you reach a decision that suit all of your family, good luck to you all.
April

Hi Bailey's and Welcome to PIO.

What a really tough decision. I think I agree with the other comments, you need to sit down and work out why you didn't like it. Perhaps a move to a different state would work? Are your circumstances different now?

I think the problem is sometimes the more you think the more you get confused

How long have you been back in the UK?

Can't really add to the above - perhaps try again in a different place.

Hi Baileys..we are going back to Perth to live..it is a small city which suits us, as we don't want the full on hustle and bustle, but enjoy the shopping which Perth city offers..it has some gorgeous beaches and we as a family always found plenty to do.. though some might disagree..i think this is the appeal of Perth..even though it is a city, it has a certain quiet and calmness about it & my three brothers are over there and say the job opportunities at the moment are really good!..i hope you can come to some decision soon, as i think the inbetween bit of shall we, shant we can be the hardest time..all the best..
Pingpong
