20ft Containers

Hi everyone:)

Had a lady round today from one of the companies that are providing quotes for our removals to Brisbane. We are entitled to a 20ft container with Chris' work package but she does not think we will be able to fit all our stuff in

I didnt think we had that much, especially as lots of our furniture and contents were lost when our house was flooded in June.

Anyone else had this problem? She suggested moving up to a 40ft container but I think we will have to pay the extra ourselves (not more cost!!!)

My little boy Dylan was getting quite concerned that all his toys would be going, bless!

Byee for now

How much stuff have you got? Our 2 bedroom semi including a garage full of crap took up half a 20 foot container!

When we got quotes from various companies, they all quoted for a 20ft container.

On the 2nd day that they were packing us up it became obvious that we were not going to get everything in a 20ft.
Luckily our furniture was going into storage for a month otherwise the container would have arrived at our house and it wouldnt have all gone in. Anyway we had the option of putting the bits that didnt fit in the 20ft either into groupage (which is where you share part of a container) however this does take longer, or go for a 40ft container.
We decided to keep everything together and went for the 40ft which only worked out 75.00 pounds more than what it would have cost us to send the rest by groupage!!

Hope this helps.

Hi, Our container went today 11th Dec for Brisbane and we only had a 20ft one. We have a large four bedroom detached and our stuff fitted in easily and with room to spare. So a 20ft one should be plenty adequate. Hope this helps Smith Tribe

Looks like we shall be having a 40ft one.... company is paying for a 20 and we shall cough up the rest... it's surprising how quickly your things take up the room.... and we are leaving quite a bit of furniture behind.. you know ikea stuff only taking the good hard wood furniture etc... mind you i have got a houseful of nick nacks!!!!... so that could explain it. when we moved to the house we are in now it took 3 days to move us and 2 and a half large lorries from pickfords!!!!!

OH wants to take his 'baby' with him (aprillia).. so that will take up room as well!!!.... not looking forward to this packing phase i can see it is going to be stressful!!

we used a 20 foot comtainer and fitted almost the entire contents of a 3 bed detatched in it including garden furniture and a washing machine and a dryer. I thought it wouldn't all fit - but the packers were brilliant.

John mason by the way.
