Ship Or Not????

Well folks were in a bit of a pickle and need some advise. We have had a quote from crown for shipping our things over and its just sort of 4 grand for a sole use 20ft container and only 400 quid cheaper for a shared one, the problem we have, is that the stuff we said we would take ( 4 x soffas ,dining table, 2 king size beds and other bits) out of these our king size bed would probably be the only thing that will look good in an ozzy house. Should we sell what weve got or ship the lot?????

Hi Nathan,

We had friend who sold everything and bought new out there, but our 3 settees and dining table with 6 chairs cost us £4000 2 years ago and for what we'd get for them and have to pay out the other end we could fill a container and take everything so that's what we're doing. It meands that we can take most of our furniture, a 12ft trampoline and all the kids stuff so we're quite happy to pay. Our 20ft Reefer container is costing £3400 with Whyte & Co, so it might be worth you shopping around on price.

We brought everything and have still had to buy new stuff too, you'll find there is alot more floor space to fill. Bringing stuff also allowed us to shop around for what we wanted rather than impulse buying because we needed it. Shop around as we paid £3,800 which included all our insurance

We bought 35 boxes and NO furniture. We stayed with rellies for first few weeks so had chance to look around at everything. Once we`d rented we bought stuff new! We bought EVERYTHING new....mops, buckets, brooms, cups, mugs, plates, you name it we bought it!

gazza is an unknown quantity at this point
Hi

We have just had quotes from 2 different companies and have decided that given the cost of shipping old stuff we might as well put that money towards new stuff and a new life.

Obviously things like photos and sentimental bits & bobs should be taken. We are wondering if you can take things like photo albums/cds/pictures in suitcases as you get extra allowance for emigrating.

On the other hand we are waiting for quotes for boxes now, just out of interest how much did it costs to ship boxes over.

thanks Donna
