Leaving a pet

Just wondering if many people have made the hard decision of leaving a family pet behind?

I will have to re-home my dog if I go as I will be staying with relatives for a while.

I hate the thought of it and although I'm reluctant I think it would be for the best. I would do my very best to make sure she goes to a good home.

Hi
From the day we decided to move to Oz we said we would be taking our St Bernard with us, however after our visa was granted in April we started getting quotes. We were so shocked they were all £4,400 + and we just could not afford it.
Although we are not leaving until Dec, we decided to rehome her now to make sure she was well settled before we go and i am very glad we did as the first home did not work out as their dog did not like her and we had her back after 3 days.
A week later she went to a work friend, she has now been there for 9 weeks and they adore her. Matt went to see her last week she is being very well cared for and there has not been any probs.
We all miss her so much, but getting her settled now has been a great weight off our mind and the people have promised to email pics to the kids once we are gone.

I know it will be hard but if you find a nice family then it is a great relief not to have to worry about taking them.

I've got 4 dogs...all workers so they cant go to 'normal' homes as they'll do damage to anything that isnt another dog!

Also got 4 ferrets, which for some reason which I dont understand, nobody wants!!!

We've got a big luvly cuddly cat, 6 yrs old who'll we'll all miss like mad, far more than most family members . Love him so much that we just cant put him through the flight and quarantine. He's very timid and has been run over twice so he's had enough trauma!
He's also very good at catching wildlife of all kinds smaller than him (he's got his own version of a takeaway somewhere! not nice l know) so the thought of him catching something in Oz that will give him grief is not a good thought.

Thankfully my sis is gonna have him probably from when we visit Oz in the Autumn. When we get back from the trip we can still naturally see him and know that he has settled in well. Otherwise l really dont know what we'd do as l just couldn't hand him over to a re-homing place. Think the dilemma would be enough for us to reconsider going

Lyn x
