Have we posted our visa right???

Hi to all,
I know we have to sit tight and wait and it can be a long process to thinking about Australia and actually getting there, but I am a little worried that we may have failed on the furst hurdle already!
We have sent our visa app, via Royal Mail signed for international, registered delivery, but now realise that the address on the receipt is a GPO Box in Australia.
Does anyone know if this is okay? eg if no one is there to sign for it will it be returned? We Posted it off nearly 2 months ago and have had no confirmation as yet.
We have asked DIMA via their website if they have received it but no reply to that aswell
Thank you all.
Ps we hope to be Perth bound this year!

Hi , have you checked with royal mail to see if it has been signed for? i would've thought you will have had a reference number when you sent it, so if you contact royal mail they should be able to tell you if its been delivered. When we sent our application off that went to a GPO number (i think they all are) . i really hope you get it sorted soon. We sent ours by DHL through interparcel ,we know its there but haven't had an acknowledgement yet and its driving us mad. you must be having a nightmare! good luck i'm sure it'll be ok.

Hi

The problem you might have is that the letter is awaiting signature and if not received will be returned or will await for a signatory.

Best thing to do is contact the Royal Mail who can put a 'trace' on this for you or go to Au Post website Welcome To Australia Post and enter the address you have. This will then indicate which post office it is attached to and you can ask if they can locate a letter number ....... (worth a try if the first docent work or check concurrently)

Regards

Hi,

Many thanks for that, we have tried to track it from uk registration number and are told it has arrived in Oz, but we dont seem to get any more than that, unless thats all you get! We have emailed Dima a week or so ago but heard nowt.

But we have and contacted DIMA a week or so ago, so I guess we shall wait a bit longer, keep everthing crossed and hope it is just part of the process.

Does you guys know how long it normally takes to get acknowledgement?

Ta again for your help on this.

Thank you guys

Hi

My mind is now at ease, thank god. We have received confirmation via the Oz postal tracking service (thank you Chris) that our Visa has arrived and has been signed for, so I will now sit back for another week or so before I begin to wonder what the heck next.....

Thank you moreteavicar for your advice, out of interest when did you send yours? See already starting to wonder!!

Cheers
R&M

sigh of relief

Hi, i have just read your post with interest as we did exactly the same thing as you and i realised today that it was posted to a Po box, glad to hear that yours was signed for and hoping ours will get there ok. How long did it take for Auspost to get back to you, in my oppinion Royal mail international signed for is no use as you dont really know if it has got there as you cant track it once it leaves UK

Hi
We sent our visa application off on 6/7/07 and spookily we received an acknowledgement yesterday 31/7/07, so ours has took about three weeks. I'm not sure if these times are diferent for the various visas. Good news that you've got confirmation about your application, must be a weight off your mind. Best of luck.

Hi,

We wouldn't use royal mail agin for anything we wanted to track either.

We mailed Aus Post to find out if things had arrived, they had , but they also asked us why so many people were e-mailing them for this so I told them that its Royal Mails fault for not telling people their International signed For is only tracked till it leaves the UK.
They were grateful for my response as maybe it needs to get back to Royal Mail too.

Hi alot of addresses are post box addressess. Confirmation of receipt of your application can take ages (as you'll see from some of our members time lines), it's easy to say be patient but whilst you're waiting enjoy the site
