Smile Meet & Greet In Cairns??

Hi.
I've noticed a couple of threads before about meet and greet services on arrival in Oz but have only spotted places like Brisbane, gold coast etc. Anyone know of this type of thing in cairns?
Thanks, Paula

Meet and greet's are companies that meet you from the airport, arrange short term rental for your arrival and welcome packs and can help you with all the necessary things like banks, employment agencies, tax offices and all the other essentials. They can also show you around pointing out what you specifically want to know, suburbs, schools, hospital etc.
They just make the first few days or week easier!!
We won't be there till next year if all goes well!! You will be a pro at local knowledge by then, I'll be interested in how you get on and maybe get some tips from you!! Paula

Hi Paula,
I just got my Visa !!!!
Right Ok, so I'll look into that. I was on another forum, not sure if I'm allowed to mention it, British Expats I think it was called, and there was some good info on there, a couple of guys posting from Cairns. One guy ran or was involved in a company that organised hosted stays, staying in family homes sort of thing specialising in people relocating.
I had GB liners round for a quote yesterday too , very nice man, havn't had the quote yet, and they say in the brochure he gave me that they can do a lot of the things you mentioned, not looked into it. I have just discovered that there is a dry ski slope in Cairns, which I am very excited about, I can teach my boys to ski. When we're not diving. Trying not to think too much about marine stingers and crocodiles (one on Palm Beach recently apparently).
Good Luck, and if U have anything to share with us please do.
Do you have jobs to go to? We are going to just rock up and see what happens.

Hi again. just seen your reply! CONGRATULATIONS on your visa!! We're hopefully just going to pitch up too, and hopefully find something suitable once we're there...if....we get the visa!! Had some interest from cairn slipways at the marina for my husbands work, that's a positive start! Awaiting skills acknowledgement at the moment!! Had a lovely reply from someone on BE forum, look out for FOXIERUTHIE she's going to cairns too!

It's not a ski slope it's water skiing. Not the same thing at all. Oh well, just have to go to New Zealand. And we sold the house today !!!!! Things are going far too well. Just out of intersest, what made you chose Cairns , its not on the top of most people's list. For us it was a combination of things, we'd spent time up there and in Port Douglas and liked it, the houses are cheaper, no traffic, no horrendous commute, plenty of work for my husband (hospitality) and I think it should be easy to keep small children occupied. And after living in London for the last few years we could do with getting away from big cities and back to a smaller community.

We couldn't meet the 120pts but Qld could sponsor my husbands skills with 110pts and the area they need that skill is Cairns and the tropical far north. Won't complain though. That part of Oz will suit us just fine, particularly the warmth all year round and not too anxious yet about the typhoons!!!! Still waiting for his skills assessment! Lots of waiting in this game isn't there!!?

Looks like there's a gap in the market for a dry ski slope then...an alternative to water skiing I suppose...now there's an idea!
