Hi everyone! Very new to all this, but very keen too! Want any information anyone can possibly give. I am a single mother of two and their future is so important that I'm looking into the best I can possibly give them. I am hard-working, but very family minded, which is why I enjoy working in a secondary school as it gives me time to enjoy with my kids (ok so they're getting older but we still love time together! The thing I'm unsure about is how I would get a visa? I'm very good at my job (administration/secretarial/data input) and have a criminal clearance, but I've been checking things out and its all about "skilled stuff"? This site is amazing and the amount of information is unbelievable!
I would welcome anything anyone can tell me. Thanks for your time!

Hi Coral

Welcome to PIO.

Hope the forum answers all your questions. It's my understanding but I may be wrong (I'm sure someone will help if I am!) that Australia is only looking for people on skilled visa's with very specific skills or trades, not administration based as they can usually fill those vacancies with Australians.

if you have a look on www.immi.gov.au and look at the MODL list (think thats it's name), it will tell you the skills that they are currently looking for on skilled visa's. It's currently down for maintenance at the moment, expected to be back up tomorrow.

There are other options, such as sponsered visa's etc but as you may be able to tell, I'm certainly no expert . LOL !! Maybe you could try a couple of agents and see if they can advise, according to other posters, some out there do have a free initial consultation.

Good luck, apologies if I've been of no use whatsoever.

Joanne

Thank you for replying Joanne. I'm going to find out as much as I can and as you say, there are alternative ways of getting into the country. Never say never eh?

Hello Coral

Welcome to PIO!

As Jo says, a Skilled Visa would not seem to be an option for you with your occupation at the moment, but, as me and my hubby found out, there are other visas.

You deffo need to speak with an agent. There are several on here that will help you, usually they answer posts on here under Migration Issues, and there are loads advertised in Australia & New Zealand magazine, or by Googling. Me and my hub had virtually given up our dream of migrating to Australia, until we had a free 45mins session with an Australian migration agent at an Expo in Manchester last year.....

Good luck in your quest..

Cheers,
Rachel

Welcome to PIO Coral. Good for you I say. As has already been said, speak with a few agents first to clarify your options.

Any idea where you'd like to head to, any family out there? (just being nosey, sorry )

Good luck,
Jen x

Thanks for your reply Jen! Been looking into Victoria & Melbourne - Adelaide sounds lovely but very hot! Have no family there, just heard so much good stuff about the place. Am going to follow advice and have a chat with an agent to check out best way forward for me and the kids!
Great to hear such positive comments - thank you.

Thanks so much for replying Rachel. It's really given me hope - I will definitely speak with an agent to check out my options - as you say - there are other visas I could go for! Good luck to you and your family!
