Football (soccer)

Hi guys! ive just started the ball rolling on the move to Perth and was just wondering about the good old british game called football (soccer). Its not for my self but my son whos 12. He plays for His local U12s team and he was asking do they have a mini league or some sort of community league and football training like he goes to ( www.acklamfc.co.uk ) He is part of a very large league called the TJFA (Teesside Junior Football Association ) through these he has been scouted for middlesbrough and liverpool ailed to get in. He loves football (soccer) and wants to get into as soon as he gets there.
Please reply to this as this is inportant to him - and being a proud dad its important to me to.

Cant speak for Perth as we are in Victoria but here there is plenty of football going on.
I have an 8 and an 18yo who both play over here, infact the 18 yo who played at a good level in UK has just been scouted and offered a wage of $150 a game!!! So if your son is good then the teams will be begging him to play for them.
What I would say tho' is bring as much kit with you as you can, it's not that it's really expensive it's just not easy to get hold of and despite the hard ground out here, they have never heard of astro turfs!!
Best of luck.
Lesley

Hi Andy

Yep, they definately have football (or soccer as they call it) for kids. My nephew used to play on Sunday's in a mini league, he was only 8, and his dad coached it. Quite a family thing, as it is here really.

Also when we were in Perth last time, my hubby went along to a Freo City match, spoke to the manager, had a trial and was playing for them the next week! Not sure if they have a junior league, but there is plenty of soccer clubs there. Should be easy enough to sort out once you are there.

Never know your son maybe playing for Perth Glory in a few years! Not sure if they're any good though!

Good luck with your move, when are you planning on going?

Sam xx

Hi Andy

Just read your post. You must be proud of your son. Hope you get the answers you are looking for.

We are just starting our application and hope to be living the dream in Perth sometime next year.

Hope you and all your family are well.

Good Luck,
Alison Whatmore (The Boro)

Excellant

Thanks for all your replies and my son whose sitting here is a very happy bunny. Now my daughter who is 10 would like to start soccer in Perth and gymnastics is that possible at her age and is there clubs that play girl teams?
Prefer her to do gymnastics tho because shes like an elastic band and never stops doing the splits and crab.
thanks and Hello Alison
