Hi Pat
We are retiring to QLD too, hopefully around the Buderim area so not too far from you. I have looked into this, as in Scotland all our bus travel is free and I will miss that. QLD do a Senior`s Card which gives various discounts on different things including house rates, travel etc. I can`t remember off-hand exactly what is available but if you do a search for QLD Senior`s Card you should be able to find out.

If you check out http://www.communities.qld.gov.au/co...sions/brochure that should give you access to a 36 page brochure on all the benefits. If I was more computer literate I would be able to post the link and you wouldn`t have to type it out in full. The bus discount (50%) does not appear to apply to rural buses, so it depends on how the buses are classified. Don`t think I'll be able to find out until we get there.

We are in the final stages of the visa, have paid the second installment, just waiting for the grant letter, have been given a validation date of July 07. We are expecting to go out to validate either May or June but not making the full move until 08. We will be looking at property/land round the Buderim area when we validate. Have you bought already?
