The pay as you go is expensive here and you loose the credit if any left after a month with most of them,
I use skype to text the uk as it costs only a few cents - never text to the uk from our mobiles now to expensive

Hi we are on Virgin mobiles pay as you go, if I put $30 dollars on it expires after so many months (not sure how long) and the text messages are 35cent if I put $50 on then it lasts a year and the text messages are 25cent (even to the UK). It is not even that drastic to phone them from my mobile, which I have had to do a couple of times, I wasn't on long but it was only a couple of dollars.

We brought our phones and just got a new sim card, we got a vodaphone one as my brother in brissy is on that network and calls are only 20c per min - so it's been great.

I thought Vodafone-to-Vodafone calls are about 20c per call?

If I'm not mistaken, a brand new Vodafone SIM card costs A$2 here?
